I have received several emails lately from people who are afflicted with demonic oppression. They want to know how or what will make it stop immediately. But it isn’t that easy. There is no quick fix. Once you are afflicted with demons, liberation is a long and arduous process. God allows these sufferings for the good of the soul. I know that is hard to hear and accept. I’ve been there. But knowing that deep suffering always brings us closer to God can help. How do we find healing? I believe we do that by identifying how it happened, by closing any open doors, through the sacraments, prayer, surrender, and trust in God. Sin opens the door to the devil and demons. Some examples are occult or New Age practices like crystals, mediums or psychics, past life regression, angel or tarot cards, auras, energy healing, hypnosis, and more. Darker practices would be Ouija board, Satanism, witchcraft, voodoo, boho magic, necromancy, sex magic, astral projection, and more. Other open doors would be addiction, drugs, tattoos, sexual sin, abortion, gambling, blasphemy, and the list goes on. In this article, I will provide useful information that will be easy to access and encourage people amid the darkness of oppression and other demonic illnesses such as obsession and infestation, which both contribute to oppression.
I want to list some of the symptoms of oppression. Not everyone will suffer from all of them, and some may not even be listed, but it will give you a good idea of what oppression looks like. The physical symptoms include biting, scratching, shoving, the feeling of a heavy weight on the body, and pressure on the chest at night. The symptoms can also include stomach pain and headaches, nausea, bodily pain, putrid odors like garbage or sulfur, and feeling bound or unable to move. Sleep deprivation, horrible nightmares, night terrors, sexual dreams, sexual assaults by a demon, bed shaking, banging, footsteps, demonic voices, and other strange sounds. Seeing black shadows or dark figures, other visual disturbances, and a strong sense that an evil presence is watching you. People under oppression can also suffer from financial problems.
Obsession affects the mind with evil images, negative self-degrading thoughts, blasphemies, suicidal thoughts, repetitive words, or short phrases like you’re stupid, or you’ll never be anything. Reasoning and human interaction become diminished. Infestations are disturbances in the home like the black shadows I spoke of, sounds that oftentimes no one else hears, things moving or missing, disgusting odors, flickering lights, exploding light bulbs, televisions or radios going and off, and so on. And these are the experiences of a spiritually attacked person. These demonic interactions with the victim cause intense fear, deep depression, uncontrollable anxiety, isolation, and panic attacks.
So, how does a person deal with these attacks? Most of the time they don’t. They are just trying to survive. They don’t always know they are in a spiritual battle. But as time passes, they become enlightened to the truth. They know that Jesus is the only One who can restore their life and deliver them from these tortures. God seems lost to them, and they feel abandoned in their suffering. But this ignites an even deeper need for God. Even when their prayers seem unanswered, they still turn to Him. The overwhelming heaviness of oppression can make prayer difficult. Each prayer is like a big hurdle for the afflicted soul. But it brings them a little bit more into the light. On good days, pray more. On bad days, remember that the name of Jesus is a powerful prayer. Go outside. Take a walk. Do something to pull yourself out of the despair. There are a lot of links in this article. I don’t want that to overwhelm anyone. Just choose the ones that interest you. Choose the ones that interest you. I have placed an * next to the ones I love. They are all great, but these are my favorites.
The Sacraments
The sacraments are essential for every Christian person. Living a holy life is the most effective way to fight evil. We do that in different ways. Most importantly, through the sacraments, which give us grace and help us turn away from sin so that we can live good and holy lives. The sacrament of confession removes any power the devil has over us, and the Eucharist gives us strength, which helps us to endure our sufferings. Anyone actively suffering demonic attacks should commit to going to confession every week and receiving the Eucharist daily if they can. At the least, one should go to confession monthly and receive the Eucharist every week.
Mass *
Adoration
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a place of rest, solace, peace, and consolation. For people who are under attack, it is essential to try and spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. You may experience a beautiful reprieve from your suffering, but there is a chance it may be hard to calm down and rest. Try and stay anyway. I promise you are receiving incredible blessings and graces from the Lord.
Prayer
Prayer is necessary for everyone. It is the first step in building a relationship with God. But when someone is dealing with demonic issues, prayer can be difficult. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pray. It means you should find ways that will make prayer easier for you. A video is a great way to do that. The links below will take you to simple but powerful prayers that can spiritually enrich anyone who prays them.

Psalms
The Psalms are so beautiful. They can be a great joy and comfort to people. They give the soul what it needs in the moment. The heaviness of oppression is debilitating. But praying the Psalms touches the heart in such profound ways. Whether one cries out in despair, praises the Lord in their suffering, or extols Him in great thankfulness, the Psalms beautifully soothe them. Below are some of the psalms that helped me. They might be a little dramatic. But they were the nicest ones I found.
Psalm 91 Security Under God’s Protection
Psalm 88 Lament and Prayer in Affliction *
Psalm 25 Prayer for Guidance and Help *
Psalm 31 Prayer in Distress and Thanksgiving for Escape
Psalm 35 Prayer for Help Against Unjust Enemies
Psalm 51 The Miserere: Prayer of Repentance
Psalm 121 The Lord Our Guardian
Psalm 23 The Lord Sheppard and Host *
Sacramentals
Sacramentals are objects that are blessed by a priest and used at home. Once they are blessed, they are holy and help protect us from evil. Some examples of the sacramentals would be water, salt, olive oil, crucifixes, holy images, candles, holy medals, scapulars, and rosaries. People receive grace through the sacramentals because they put their faith in God when they use them. Below are a few sacramentals anyone can wear that protect us from evil.
Have Your House Blessed
Spiritual problems can cause disturbances in homes. It is scary, and people don’t always know what to do. Having the house blessed by a priest will often solve the problem. A priest is only a phone call away. You don’t have to be a Catholic to have your home blessed. A priest will bless any home.
Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Consecration of Homes to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart
Gregorian Chant
According to Father Chad Ripperger, demons hate Gregorian Chant so playing it in the house is a good practice. It is also beautiful and so peaceful. The links below are some of my favorites.

Illumination Peaceful Gregorian Chant *
Get Help From a Priest
Seeking the help of a priest for spiritual issues is very important. They know what questions to ask and how to help the victim. They can pray over you, counsel you, and help you find relief. You can contact the Catholic Diocese in your area for help.
Retaliation
The last thing I want to touch on is retaliation. It is simply the devil seeking revenge against a person attempting to break away from evil or trying to protect themselves from it. With retaliation, there could be an increase in any symptoms you are already experiencing. You could also see family members suddenly become angry and divided, have technology issues, or incur illnesses that stop you from going to Mass or confession, and all sorts of things. When we become wise to the devil’s involvement in our lives and start to fight back, he can intensify his attacks against us. Do not give in to the devil’s intimidation tactics. Stand firm in your faith and trust in God. These increased attacks are a sign that you are doing the right thing. It might not feel like it, but you are effectively conquering evil. Remain in a state of grace and pray. Everything you are enduring will bring you to a profound love for God.
