I try to avoid the news as much as possible these days because the leftist media feeds us utter falsities and speaks to us as if we were total morons, incapable of coming to any logical conclusions of our own. And the conservative or right-wing media speaks the truth but often paints a picture so bleak it leaves us with little confidence there can ever be a hopeful future. In this technological world in which we live, people are constantly besieged with images and headlines so disturbing, that once you see it or hear it, you can’t erase it from your mind. The devil has taken technology and corrupted it for his own gain.
Being aware of what is happening in the world, and specifically in this country right now is important, of course. But deciding to what extent that information flows into our being is totally up to us. If constant news being pumped into our minds causes fear and anxiety, then it is time to take a step back and reevaluate how to remain peaceful in a peaceless world. I choose to limit those things that negatively affect me and disrupt my stillness, and place them all in the hands of God, who seems to be forgotten in the world today.
The devil isn’t hiding anymore. He is prominently visible and boldly using those people he has deceived to attack and destroy, to lie and degrade, to hurt and to kill. The world is not without hope. God is hope and he has the power to change everything. We have to believe that. Prayer is the answer. It is an escape from the world and the balm that heals everything. Prayer counters evil and instills peace. It builds warriors, who by their faithfulness to the Lord, literally call down the power of God to dismantle the deeds of the evil one. We need more people to pray.
Maybe this message of prayer seems redundant to you since I have written about it before. Maybe prayer is hard for you. Then let’s find a way to make it easier by using technology to our benefit rather than to our detriment. Some people have a hard time being still, and that makes praying difficult. But videos, either audio or visual, can help a person relax and experience the benefits of prayer. Sometimes there is music that accompanies the prayer, which can have a calming effect and produce an emotional response. It is in our response, that is initiated by the Holy Spirit, that a deeper connection with God is formed. All a person needs to do is decide to pray.
A friend of mine sent me a video called the Novena of Surrender by Father Dolindo Ruotolo. She said it was “like being in Medjugorje again.” She is right. It is beautiful, and the message is perfect for these times of strife and uncertainty. Please consider listening to the video for the message the Lord wants to speak to your heart, and maybe through it you be able to begin to surrender all to Him.
Thank you Wendy! I needed this at this very moment. For a moment I felt like one of the apostles in the boat fearful of the storm while Jesus “slept”. Jesus never sleeps. Thank you so much for the novena!
Thanks Wendy. And what a beautiful version of the surrender novena. I really love it and I will share it with others.
